Commercial solar PV

See what your roof could save your business each year

Commercial solar lets you generate your own electricity on site, cutting daytime bills and giving you a level of protection from energy price spikes.

  • Reduce your electricity costs and lock in a lower long-term rate
  • Make better use of unoccupied roof space or car parks
  • Support your ESG and net-zero commitments with visible action
02 • Is it right for your site?

Which businesses see the strongest benefits?

Solar works best where you use a good amount of electricity during the day and have suitable roof or land space. These are some of the sites we install on most often.

A

Warehouses & industrial units

Large, relatively unobstructed roofs and steady daytime electricity use make warehouses and light industrial units ideal for solar.

B

Offices & retail

Offices, shops and business parks often have roof space that can offset daytime lighting, HVAC and IT loads with on-site generation.

C

Farms & agricultural buildings

Farm sheds and barns provide excellent mounting areas, particularly for businesses with refrigeration, pumps or machinery.

D

Schools, healthcare & public sector

Sites with predictable hours and long-term occupancy can benefit from lower running costs and visibly greener operations.

If your site doesn’t fit neatly into one of these, we can still assess your roof or land and give clear guidance on what is and isn’t realistic.

03 • Why businesses choose solar

More than just a lower bill

Installing solar is a commercial decision. For most of our clients it’s about cutting and stabilising operating costs, but there are important side benefits too.

Benefit
Lower, more predictable energy costs

Generate a portion of your electricity on site at a known, long-term cost per kWh. This reduces exposure to sudden grid price spikes and helps with budgeting.

Benefit
Better use of your roof or land

Turn unused roof area, car park canopies or adjacent land into an asset that supports the core business, rather than just sitting idle.

Benefit
ESG & stakeholder expectations

Demonstrate visible progress towards net-zero and sustainability targets for investors, customers and staff, backed by measurable carbon savings.

Benefit
Long service life & low maintenance

Quality commercial solar systems are designed to run for decades with minimal maintenance, delivering value long after they’ve paid for themselves.

04 • The numbers at a glance

What commercial solar can look like in practice

Every site is different, but these figures are typical of well-designed rooftop systems for businesses that use most of their electricity during the day.

~6p
Approx. lifetime cost per kWh of solar electricity generated on your roof.
3–5 yrs
Typical simple payback period for well-matched commercial installations.
Up to 40 yrs
System life expectancy with quality hardware and ongoing maintenance.
Up to 50%+
Potential reduction in grid electricity consumption for well-suited sites.
05 • How we work

A clear, commercial process from first call to switch-on

We work with owners, directors and facilities managers to make sure the system fits the site, the numbers and your wider plans for the business.

1
Discovery & initial assessment

We start with your objectives, recent energy bills and site information, then carry out a desktop assessment to see what looks realistic.

2
Site survey & system design

Our team visits site to check roofs, structure, access and electrical connections, then designs a system tailored to your building and operations.

3
Financial modelling & proposal

We share clear projections for generation, savings and payback, along with a fixed-price proposal and any available incentives or grants.

4
Installation, commissioning & support

Our in-house team installs and commissions the system, then provides monitoring options and a support plan for the long term.

06 • Example projects

The kinds of sites we work on

These are typical examples of the projects we design and deliver. Exact system sizes and savings depend on your roof, usage and tariffs.

Warehouse & manufacturing
20,000 sq ft industrial unit

Rooftop system offsetting daytime production and lighting loads, helping the business stabilise energy costs.

Example: 150–250 kWp | High daytime self-consumption
Retail & offices
Multi-site operator

Rolling out rooftop solar across several locations to cut running costs and support corporate ESG reporting.

Example: 30–80 kWp per site | Portfolio approach
Agricultural
Dairy farm & cold storage

Solar on agricultural buildings helping to power refrigeration, pumps and machinery with on-site generation.

Example: 80–150 kWp | Strong daytime usage
07 • Questions

Commercial solar FAQs

These are some of the questions business owners and facilities managers most often ask when they’re first considering solar for their site.

We combine your electricity usage patterns, tariffs and roof potential to model generation, self-consumption and export. From there we can estimate savings, simple payback and lifetime returns, and share those numbers in a clear proposal.
We plan works around your operations, agreeing access routes, noisy activities and any shutdowns in advance. Most of the installation takes place on the roof, with short periods of electrical downtime scheduled at convenient times.
As part of our survey we check roof condition and structure, and we’ll flag any remedial works we think are needed before installation. We design mounting to work with the roof type and can liaise with your roofing contractor or insurer where required.
Many businesses choose to fund solar through asset finance or power purchase agreements so they can spread costs and align payments with savings. We can discuss the options and, if helpful, introduce you to finance providers we’ve worked with before.
Routine maintenance is relatively light: periodic inspections, performance checks and cleaning where needed. We can build an operations and maintenance plan into our proposal so you know what to expect over the life of the system.
